The majority of legislators, Republican and Democrat, are profoundly fixed on the idea that it is the government’s responsibility to monitor, control, supervise, and manage the education of all children.
"We, as home educators, must take the lead in educating our new and current legislators on the merits and validity of home education."
This is more evident year after year, as we are made aware of new legislation designed to put more government control into education on both the state and federal levels. With this expanding arm of bureaucracy, more authority to define and choose educational standards is shifting from parents to the bureaucrats and legislators.
This attitude is what challenges the homeschooler’s freedom to make the best educational choices for their own children. It is for this reason that we, as home educators, must take the lead in educating our new and current legislators on the merits and validity of home education.
